Introduction: The Leuze ODSL 30/V-30M Ex d Optical Distance Sensor is a premium, non-contact positioning and displacement instrumentation solution engineered and manufactured 100% in Germany by Leuze electronic. Custom-built as a highly specialized version for hostile environments, this laser sensor is fully enclosed in a rugged, certified Ex d flameproof protective housing. Certified under strict 2G (for Gas hazards) and 2D (for Dust hazards) equipment categories, it represents the absolute safety standard for deployment within hazardous zones of petrochemical refineries, chemical processing hubs, automated industrial spray booths, or underground mining channels. Utilizing a highly focused red laser light source with a sharp 6 mm light spot size, the sensor projects directly against the target object's surface (Against object) to deliver long-range tracking capabilities up to 30 meters (designated by 30M). This heavy-duty configuration comes pre-wired with an integrated, industrial-grade 8-wire cable spanning 15 meters (15,000 mm) in length, giving automation engineers ultimate flexibility when routing signal wiring from hazardous Ex-zones back to a safe control room panel. The ODSL 30 variant provides maximum technical compatibility by outputting both analog current and voltage loops simultaneously, while a crisp onboard LC Display and a tactile membrane keyboard allow seamless on-site parameter commissioning and real-time monitoring.
